IEEE USF Student Organization Raises Funds to Endow Leadership Scholarship


During the pandemic, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) sold lab kits containing valuable parts such as probes, breadboards, wires, and resistors to undergraduate electrical engineering students for their classes. Selling these lab kits was part of an initiative that led to the creation of the IEEE USF Student Branch Leadership Scholarship.

Using AI and Drones to Pinpoint Mosquito Breeding Habitats


To combat the spread of malaria in developing regions such as sub-Saharan Africa, Sriram Chellappan, a USF professor of computer science and engineering, played an important part in developing drone mapping technology to locate habitats of malaria spreading mosquitoes.

Yogi Goswami and Molekule awarded BioFlorida’s COVID-19 Innovation Award.


The first winner of this inaugural award is Distinguished University Professor and Director of the USF Clean Energy Research Center, Yogi Goswami and his company Molekule.

Patel, Greene and Associates Establishes Endowed Scholarship


PGA founders Hiren Patel and Gordon Greene established an endowed scholarship that will benefit students majoring in civil engineering for years to come.

USF Engineering Graduates the First Cohort of Students Participating in NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program


To properly prepare students to address global challenges, the GCSP identified five pillars that each student must achieve before graduation. These five competencies include the following: research, interdisciplinary studies, entrepreneurship, global outreach, and service-learning.

An IEEE initiative recently led to the creation of the IEEE USF Student Branch Leadership Scholarship, which shall be used to offer scholarships to students in the USF College of Engineering.

Alumni Chad Drummond Creates Drummond Carpenter Scholarship for Veterans


As a Navy veteran Chad Drummond, president and chairman of Drummond Carpenter, was inspired to pursue a career in environmental engineering after witnessing environmental devastation during the first Gulf War.

Bulls-EYE Mentoring Program Goes Online


Introduced in 2014, the Bulls-EYE Mentoring program successfully promotes STEM by delivering engineering problem solving to middle school students within a family-friendly environment.

Electrical Engineering Lab Becomes New Robotics Hub


In response to Industry 4.0 and student demand, a lab that was once considered obsolete by modern industry standards was recently upgraded with new equipment and new opportunities for USF electrical engineering students.
